What's the best time for the helicoptor ride over the strip?

Can anyone recommend if it is better to fly over the strip at sunset or when the sun has completely gone down. Also is it cheaper to book on-line or wait until we arrive to Vegas to get a better deal? We are a family of 5.

I can%26#39;t compare, but I can say that the lights looked great at night from a helicopter.

One warning- You don%26#39;t list ages, but if you%26#39;re bringing younger kids and if any of them are bugged by loud noises, they may not like riding in the helecopter. The big, clunky headphones help keep the roar to a minimum, but it could be overwhelming and talking to them to try to calm them during the ride would be a challenge.

Thanks Big. My kids are older teenagers so they should be fine. When you say night, are you saying when the sun is fully set, or to go at sunset? Does that make sense?

';Big'; did you book on-line or when you arrived to Vegas? Who did you book with and how much did you pay? Thanks

I%26#39;ve been to Vegas a couple of times %26amp; have done the strip tour during the day %26amp; at night - I have to say that personally at night it%26#39;s just amazing - you get to see the sheer spectacle of everything - it%26#39;s like nothing else in the world (but I guess that%26#39;s Vegas for you!)

As for tours to the Canyon - we used Sundance Tours %26amp; booked it from the tour desk at the MGM where we were staying. I have nothing but praise for the company - from the moment we were picked up to be taken to the airport (in a limo which for english girls like us was just great!) for the flight itself , including the stop off breakfast in the canyon itself. It was just wonderful!!

In November 2002, my husband and I (young couple) took the the Grand Canyon %26amp; Hoover Dam Helicopter Flight with Basin landing and picnic lunch provided by Helicopter Tours USA. Our experience was fabulous and would highly recommend this trip to our friends %26amp; family. The pilot was an war veteran who was extremely professional %26amp; personable. He also had a vast knowledge of the area. We took the early afternoon flight and found the view of the Vegas Strip on way back to be stunning. It was fun to watch the rides on the Stratosphere. We choose a day flight since the previous night we were able to see much of the lighted strip from the Eiffel Tower at Paris. At that time we paid ~$230pp for the trip.

Sand- We went shortly after dark. Of course, since it took ages for the bus (which had been described as a limo to my husband) to arrive and then to make stops at other hotels we would have been flying at night even if we%26#39;d tried to book a sunset flight. I beleive it cost us just under $100 per person and we booked the flight at the concierge desk at Bally%26#39;s. I didn%26#39;t line it up myself and don%26#39;t remember the name of the company.

If you have access to a car I think you would be better off driving yourselves from the hotel to the landing strip and saving the additional charge to let the company provide transportation. Our nasty bus trip put a bit of a damper on the rest of the experience for our group.

Thanks for the info Big
