Murphy bed at Bally's

Has anyone actually seen / used / slept on the Murphy Bed in the suite at Bally%26#39;s?

How would it rate? Is it comparable to a regular bed, or closer to a sofa bed?

We are planning a trip for 9 adults and 3 kids, and need to know if the Murphy bed is only suitable for the 9 year olds, or if one of us 30 - 60 somethings could sleep on.

A Murphy bed is usually a regular single sized bed, it pulls down from behind closed doors in the wall, they are great because when not using them, you just flip them up and close the door and they aren%26#39;t in the way nor can they be seen during the day.

We got a room with a murphy bed once, but didn%26#39;t realize we%26#39;d been upgraded to a suite. Since it%26#39;s a solid mattress (rather than a folding one like in a sofa bad) it was about as comfortable as your average hotel bed. We liked having the wet bar and fridge.

What%26#39;s up with the free passes and guestlists for nightclubs? I got a whole bunch of them online through various sites but what do they really do for you? Front of Line, free admission, guaranteed entrance...what should I expect? Experts, please fill me in!

For the most part, the passes are complimentary and not VIP, which means you are not guaranteed entry or front of the line but if you gain entry, you will not have to pay the steep cover. We went to Light and had to bogard our way to the very front of the mob scene but we got in about 5 minutes. If you%26#39;re 5 people deep, don%26#39;t stand back there expecting to get in, you have to work your way up and be nice to the doorman.

If there%26#39;s a particular club you want to go to and can%26#39;t get passes on line, wait until you get to Vegas and ask the cab drivers because they have a ton of them. They%26#39;ll sell them to you for like $5. I got my pass for Light this way but we ended up with free passes anyway from one of the promoters when we got to the Bellagio, so I have a pass for next time.

My VIP passes came from www.riovegasnights.com (found them because we%26#39;re staying at the Rio) but my access to the guest lists was through www.napkinnights.com.

You can get passes for all the clubs for $5.00 bucks or so on ebay. Most sellers sell 4 passes for 5 or 10 bucks.

Someone suggested asking drivers for passes. What kind of passes will they sell me and which drivers do I ask - taxi? limo? harrahs shuttle? rickshaw?

They are complimentary passes, which mean they%26#39;re good for either you and a guest for entrance into the club free of charge, just make sure to read the pass first because if you%26#39;re with other people and they only allow one, you%26#39;ll need to get a few more. However, a complimentary entry is different than a VIP entry, which will likely guarantee entry and skip the line, but these passes are special, and more likely to be on Ebay (as one poster said) or you have to buy them for a steep price from one of these ';party'; companies.

I am taking my wife to LV for our Anniversary the end of November....looking for a mid strip casino to stay, that does not have a huge smokey smell, offers good view of strip, generous tables, nightlife and good resturaunts. This is her first trip to Vegas, so wanna give her a ';good experience';. Also, we are in our mid 30%26#39;s. Any suggestions or ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Slotto has most of it right, but the Venetian is no where near mid-strip. Period.

But, great rooms, and if you%26#39;re going to spend that kind of money it won%26#39;t hurt to take a taxi to any shows you want to go to. Plenty of shopping and good restaurants. Wide open casino. A couple of good clubs.

For reasonable rates and good locations mid strip, I recommend the Flamingo (great pool) or Harrahs (bad pool). Unfortunately, every casino is going to smell smokey but your room should be fine.

If you don%26#39;t mind being a bit more north than centrally located the Venetian may be a great choice for you.

I haven%26#39;t done this, but I understand that BiddingForTravel.com offers tips for getting good hotel deals via Priceline and that if you bid for a 5* on the strip you%26#39;ll always get either the Venetian or Bellagio. It seems fairly common to get rates of $99 a night for week nights at the Venetian that way.

My favorite mid strip hotel is Bellagio. It isn%26#39;t cheap but has a ton to offer. I don%26#39;t know how the tables are, though, as I%26#39;m a poker, slot %26amp; vp player. Paris may be a good option at a lower price.

I%26#39;d definitely consider Venetian to be midstrip, and it%26#39;s a terrific choice. Rooms are fabulous, and there are lots of good dining choices.

If money is no object, there%26#39;s also Bellagio of course. Paris is a good choice as well for an anniversary trip, and probably the most affordable of the three I%26#39;ve mentioned.

Bellagio is a true 5* hotel and its location is excellent, very definitely in the middle of the strip. If it is too expensive, other nice places mid strip that I have stayed at and can recommend other than Bellagio are the Mirage or Paris, both nice facilities, good places to eat and in the middle of the action. Venetian is nice but it isn%26#39;t in the middle of things. If your wife likes shopping, either Fashion Show (a nice mall with a Neimans and Saks) and Forum Shops are close to most of these casino%26#39;s. Forum Shops also has some excellent restaurants in it.

What you are asking for does not exist in VEGAS.

Ask for room on top floor, corner room with wrap around view to the SOUTHWEST -- you can see all the big casinos.

Prime Rib at Landry%26#39;s restaurant.

Art museum at Bellagio, and the Conservatory. Best to see in the morning before the crowds get out.

Trip to top of Eiffel Tower, at the Paris casino.

Roller coaster ride at the NY%26lt; NY.

I would also consider the Venetian to be midstrip. I like Harrahs but I don%26#39;t think you would be satisfied with the ventillation. No one in that area would have ';generous tables'; outside of Casino Royale.

The closest match to what you are asking for is Ceasars, especially if nightlife is important to you.

Has anyone used one of these? Also does anyone know how to get a confirmed booking for one? The hotel says you can go on a waiting list and they inform you in the morning of the day you request whether you%26#39;ve been allocated one or not - not great if you want to plan ahead.

It is next to impossible to get a cabana... put your name on the waiting list...but dont hold your breath, They will sit empty most of the day, they are reserved for high rollers. I have stayed at the Mirage many times....they will tell you that you have to check with them after 11:00 am and to no avail....never got one on my own. One year went with someone who is a high roller.. We used his cabana. They are nice with misters and TVs mini frig fresh fruit. Lounges and table on your own private patio..

Thanks pmleich - looks like we%26#39;re out of luck as we are not high rollers and don%26#39;t know anyone who is. It%26#39;s good to know that it%26#39;s a long shot, at least now I won%26#39;t be expecting anything!

Stratosphere Resort Fee - Optional or Not

I have read on this forum that the $5.00/day Resort Fee which includes the use of the pool, laundry room, tower passes and a free show is OPTIONAL and some posts reported its mandatory.

I called the hotel today to request a specific tower and asked about this fee and they said it is not optional and is charged at check in.

Has anyone been there recently who knows which it is, optional or not.

This is not optional and they do not add this fee with their advertised rate (rip off ? u bet !). There is also some energy surchage that they will add, so be prepared.

How much is the cab fare from the Hilton to Fremont St? Will we have any trouble carching a return cab back after 11 pm? 1bull

If you don%26#39;t mind walking to the strip, the Cat 302 will get you to Fremont St for $2. It is a relatively quick ride from that part of the strip. The way back is a different story, the bus will likely be full w/standing room only.

A bus ride is an experience. Go for it. Be sure to read schedule for return trip, after 11.00 pm

you can also get a 24 hr. bus pass for 5.00. We use the bus all the time. But it gets very crowded at night.

Don%26#39;t do the bus. It%26#39;s just $20 for the cab and you won%26#39;t have to wait around.

i paid $22 with tip to get from Bellagio to Golden Nugget.

Seems kind of expensive to pay over $30.00 for a taxi to/from the Freemont Street Experience and the Strip. Is it really worth it?

I would avoid the ';travel brochures'; and such provided by the Las Vegas Visitor%26#39;s Bureau because EVERYBODY in those things has paid for the space and is ';selling'; you on their place or services. That%26#39;s why they are FREE to you.

You would be better served to hike down to your local bookstore and pick up a GREAT guidebook, ';The Unofficial Guide To Las Vegas';. All of their info. is totally unbiased and they are simply providing great information and ratings for hotels, casinos, restauarants, shows, etc.
