Getting the Best Rate At Hotel - What About Calling...

I%26#39;m curious if anyone has had any luck getting a hotel to match or beat quotes from online reservations outlets like Expedia or Travelocity? Hubby and I just decided we HAVE to go to Vegas over Labor Day (Sat. thru Mon), but of course, quoted prices are sky-high for Saturday night stay, if they%26#39;re available at all (most insist you stay on Friday night as well, which we can%26#39;t).

The Hilton looks like the best value, best quote of avg. $94 for three nights through Travelocity for standard room. Is there any chance if I call they%26#39;ll beat the rate, or even upgrade the room for the same price? I%26#39;d like to know if they%26#39;ll laugh and slam down the phone before I call. Should I talk to Reservations, or ask for another department? Thanks!

Go on the to the hotel%26#39;s sites itself.....I usually get very good rates there... calling they usually dont beat the rate (although I heard Orleans does have a rate guarentee)

I did and the rate for the same dates was more than Travelocity ($14 all together) plus it didn%26#39;t say what the total in tax and fees would be.

Any other website that might do better that you know of (althought not blind auction like Priceline)?

The Orleans does have rate guarantee. The hotel website will tell you upfront if the it does. If you have a players card for any casinos in Vegas already, make sure you provide that info when you call. Just having a card can get you a better rate at times no matter how much you played.

It is a little late in the game for good holiday rates. Just be sure you book soon because it only going to get worse.

Check out: www.betterbidding.com Although I%26#39;ve never used this page, many others in the TA forums highly recommend it for helping with the bidding process.

Occupancy rates in Vegas this summer have been right around 95-99% per VegasHotelManager and other reports.

Therefore, making last minute plans for the last summer holiday weekend is a very bad idea if you are looking for a good hotel room rate. The WORST day to arrive for any holiday weekend stay is Saturday.

A much better idea is to go either go a few days before or after the holiday. You are likely to save 50% or more on hotels on those dates.

Call the hotel reservation number directly or the hotel website you are interested in for the best rates. Good luck.

Go to travelaxe - it serches 10 or 12 travel sights and will give you the best price for all of them.

I second travelaxe. I have stayed at one hotel but got my room through 2 different sources. I just tell them when I check in and they connect the two reservations so I only have one check in.
